Mr John Edwin
John Edwin was originally employed for 35 years as a power station Operation and Maintenance Engineer in the UK Electricity Supply Industry (ESI), working with such diverse technologies and hazards as natural gas, coal and nuclear fission. During this time he became involved with both the construction industry, as a facilities Project Manager, and practical health & safety, as a Safety Representative.
John graduated with Honours from the Open University, gained a NEBOSH Certificate, chaired the Site Safety Committee for several years, and led teams to both improve the industry Safety Culture (winning RoSPA Gold Awards for achievement) and attain international recognition in Environmental Protection with ISO14001.
On leaving the ESI, John became a self employed Health and Safety Consultant and Trainer, and Documentation Consultant. He worked in both the UK and the Isle of Man with industry, academia and Government Departments before joining SafetyNet Ltd in 2005 as a Consultant.
John is a Technician Member of IOSH, a Technician Safety Practitioner (Tech SP), working towards Chatered Member of IOSH and RSP status. He is also a Member of the Institute of Engineering & Technology, a Member of the Institute of Scientific & Technical Communicators (working towards Fellow status) and a full Member of the Association for Project Safety (MaPS).
